Coastal Coaches - Company History
Coastal Coaches of Newick, East Sussex, commenced operations in 1973 with a Plaxton bodied Bedford SB5, and within a short time a small fleet was soon available for service. This included an unusual ex-Standerwick Bristol VRL/LH, an ECW bodied double-deck coach, also an almost overpowering MAN integral. Coastal Coaches mostly favoured the Seddon Pennine chassis.
During 1990-91 two Leyland Nationals were purchased followed by Fiat mini-buses, including an MCW Metrorider and Carlyle-bodied Darts for the contracted services. The last remaining coach was sold in 1992, and the emphasis has been since to provide regular headway services on the East Sussex and Kent county border with a very modern fleet consisting of fully accessable low-floor standardised single-deck bus bodies. Quoting ESCC, Eight new low-floor buses were brought in to service by Coastal for East Sussex County Council in 2002, with a new addition in 2004, 2005 & 2007, which were the first of its type in the county councils area allowing easy access.

Coastal Coaches - Previous Coach Hire & Tour operations.
Operations from 1973 with that first Bedford coach were based in Newhaven, moving to Seaford, with current bus operations based at Northiam, Coastal Coaches are now registered at Newick. Peter entered the 20th British Coach Rally, with VMA 8J, a Plaxton Seddon Pennine given number one as the entrant number and picking up a prize. The same coach was used to a Epsom Derby race day. During a London Rail strike, a Seddon Pennine was also used for that rail replacement contract.
